Missouri’s 13-county southeast region follows the curve of the Mississippi River, making it a major transportation hub for area businesses. Missouri’s southeast region also has five Mississippi River port facilities, seven major highways, Class I rail service and a regional airport all cater to nearly every industry. Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and Mineral Area College in Park Hills provides talent to attract and sustain growing companies.

While the southeast region’s terrain might be rugged, with the Mighty Mississippi giving rise to the St. Francois Mountains, the unique geography of area has added benefits. Known for its rich alluvial soil, this region produces more than 25 percent of Missouri’s entire agricultural output. The University of Missouri has dedicated more than 1,000 acres in Pemiscot County to study soybean cropping systems and disease control at the MU Delta Center.
